Veganism

If you believe that the abuse of animals and murder is bad, you already believe in the philosophy of veganism. The only difference is that vegans put it into practice. As a vegan you seek to exclude all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals as far as possible. We do that by eating plant-based food, wearing fur-free clothing and avoiding any other animal exploitation. You should too and I’m going to explain why.  

As a pescatarian you don’t eat meat but you do eat fish. As a vegetarian you don’t eat any meat. As a vegan you don’t eat meat or any other animal products. This includes milk, eggs, honey, insects and more. People often forget that milk is not meant for us to drink. Cows are mothers. They are mammals who only make milk when they have a baby. In the bio-industry cows are raped to have their first baby when they are only 15 months old. When the calf is born, the mother lactates for 10 months and produces an average of 8000 litres milk. After the calf is born she or he will be taken away from the mother within a day. The mother and child always show signs of distress and this could take on for weeks. The girl calves are put in cells not bigger than 1 square meter and are giving artificial milk. The bulls are being fattened up and murdered after 4 months. These babies will never know what it’s like to be loved by a mother. After the mother gives milk for about 6 years, her body gives up and they are killed for meat. A cow could normally become 25 years old. 

Animals go into a slaughterhouse alive and come out in pieces. Can you really believe something humane happened on the way. Animals go into a slaughterhouse knowing they will be killed. Imagine being pushed in a murder house hearing and seeing the souls before you scream and being killed and after smell the blood of your loved ones.  

Animals not only have the right to live but they have the will to live. They’re are conscious beings who are intelligent enough to understand the value of their life. Your food had a soul, an unique personality, emotions, friends and family. Why would their lives have any less value than ours?  

Now that you may believe that the murder of animals is not fair you still need to learn and understand how not eating animal products is also the best for our own body. There are enough studies that prove that a vegan diet is the best and healthiest diet for the average person. For example studies have shown that people can avert heart disease simply by eating plant-based. The leading one cause of death is hearth disease. One of the single most significant causes of this is dietary cholesterol. Our body makes exactly enough cholesterol so when we eat the bodies of animals we get an excessive amount. There was, for example, a study where the people who ate plant-based for 4 years showed a 42% decreased risk for heart failure compared to those eating fewer plant foods. BUT It is still important that even as a vegan you’ll need to eat healthy whole foods.  

Lastly is the livestock industry one of the biggest reason for deforestation in the amazon and actually all around the world. This is done so that the animals have a place to be kept but also for their food. A lot of trees are being cut down to plant soya. 80% of all this soya goes by plane to farm animals and those farm animals is what people eat. This is a whole unnecessary detour and one of the reasons why there is hunger in the world. 

It is clear that eating meat and animal products is not the best for the animals, our body and the environment. I hope that you have learned something new and will remember this for the next time you have a dead body on your plate. And one lost thing. Early on in life, children are taught not to take what is not theirs. And one of the most atrocious crimes one can commit is murder—to take the life of another. The charge of murder does not go away because the victim’s species is other than human!
